Ontario Trillium Building Fund Grant

Support from Community Building Fund Keeps Milton Springers Moving

Milton, ON – COVID-19 restrictions have affected Ontario’s youth sport organizations since the first shutdown in March 2020. Disrupted training due to closures and lowered capacity limits have reduced numbers in programs and negatively impacted participants and coaching staff. To help in the recovery, Milton Springers Gymnastics Club received a $99,600 grant from the Government of Ontario’s Community Building Fund – Operating stream in 2021. This grant, delivered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, supports staffing and operating costs and equipment upgrades for the club.

“I am proud our government is providing almost $100,000 to support the Milton Springers Gymnastics Club through the Community Building Fund Grant,” said Parm Gill, Member of Provincial Parliament for Milton. “This funding will help them to retain staff and upgrade systems so they can continue to provide our community with positive and important sport experiences.”

Through this grant, the club has purchased equipment such as disinfecting foggers for enhanced sanitizing of the gym, as well as technical upgrades in tablets and computers that are being used for registration and program administration. The grant is providing essential assistance in facility and administrative operations as the club returns to more normal program participation after the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We feel extremely grateful to get funding from the Community Building Fund,” says Linda Massel, General Manager of Milton Springers. “This grant is helping us come back from two very challenging years of COVID-19 restrictions.”

As many of the restrictions ease and capacity requirements are lifted, the club looks forward to rebuilding their program to pre-Covid levels. “We are feeling much more optimistic as we look down the road to the upcoming seasons,” adds Massel. “Our team just had its first competition experience after two years on the sidelines and we are looking forward to having more kids participate in our upcoming spring session starting in April, as well as Summer Break Camps. The energy is back in the gym and it feels great!”
