How Do We Join A MAG Team?

Tryouts for competitive programs are typically held in April/May. Previous recreational gymnastics class experience is recommended but a love for turning upside down and a demonstrated natural ability in strength, flexibility, and coordination could be a sign your child is a gymnast! Dates are advertised on the club website, social media, and around the gym. Athletes with previous competitive gymnastics experience may email chris@miltonspringers.ca to arrange for an evaluation.

Milton Springers is a not-for-profit community sports organization governed by a parent-run Board of Directors. Competitive programs at the club are supported through the assistance and participation of its competitive team member families. Participation of our competitive members is integral in providing a quality experience for all of our gymnastics programs, as well as assisting in keeping club fees as reasonable as possible. Levels of participation are determined by the number of hours the competitive gymnast works out. Participation is fulfilled through taking on committee and/or executive positions, or signing up for participation points (e.g. helping run events at the club).

About MAG

Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) develops well-rounded athletes by building strength, flexibility, and coordination on six events: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and high bar. With a strong emphasis on proper technique and long-term athletic development, MAG provides an excellent foundation for all sports, improving confidence, discipline, and determination.

Pre-Competitive Program (Age 4+)

The Pre-Competitive Program is designed for young athletes who show an above-average enthusiasm for gymnastics and are ready to progress beyond the recreational program. Athletes will develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and foundational skills across all six MAG events.

Athletes will participate in 1-2 non-competitive showcases throughout the season. This program provides a pathway toward the Showcase or Competitive Team programs as athletes progress.

Training commitment: 1-2 classes per week (2-4 hrs/wk)
Season: July-June

Showcase Program (Age 8+)

The Showcase Program is designed for athletes who are ready for a more challenging program without the commitment of a competitive team. Athletes will develop advanced skills, strength, flexibility, and routines across all six MAG events.

Athletes will participate in 1-2 showcases throughout the season. This program may also provide a pathway onto a Competitive Team for athletes who are ready for the additional training commitment.

Training commitment: 2 classes per week (5 hrs/wk)

Season: September-June (summer training optional)

Invitational Program (Age 8+)

The Invitational Program is designed for dedicated athletes who are ready to enter the Invitational competition stream. Training focuses on developing strong technique, consistent skill execution, strength, flexibility, and routines across all six MAG events.

Athletes will participate in 1-2 competitions and one annual showcase throughout the season. The program emphasizes discipline and well-rounded development while preparing athletes for continued progression in gymnastics.

Training commitment: 2 classes per week (6 hrs/wk)
Season: July-June
